Jeanine spent more than 25 years inside public education — from paraprofessional and special education teacher to program specialist, behavior specialist, and Director of Special Education and Student Services. Today she works as an educational advocate, author, consultant, and court-certified expert witness — helping families feel informed and confident in decisions about their child's education.

Your child is capable of so much.
This handbook helps you understand exactly how they learn,
and how to support their success.

You've searched online trying to make sense of your child's learning differences, only to find conflicting information and confusing terms. Accommodation. Modification. IEP. 504. The words are everywhere, but it can still feel unclear what any of it actually means for your child's daily life.

You already know your child has strengths, interests, and real potential. What you need are practical strategies that help you support those strengths, while also understanding where your child may need additional support.

The Inclusive Learning Handbook was written for exactly that purpose. Each chapter covers a specific learning difference or disability in clear, parent-friendly language — explaining how it may show up at home and at school, which strengths are commonly associated with that profile, and which supports, accommodations, and strategies you can put into practice right away.

This handbook is designed to help you feel informed, confident, and genuinely prepared to support your child's growth, learning, and long-term success.

Most books about learning differences focus only on challenges. This one doesn't. Every chapter includes a dedicated strengths section. Because understanding what your child does well is often the foundation for the most meaningful growth.

★★★★★

"As a parent navigating IEPs and trying to make sure my son is genuinely supported, The Inclusive Learning Handbook felt both practical and reassuring. It doesn't just talk about inclusion in theory. It lays out real strategies and accommodations that can actually be used in a classroom.

I appreciated that it helped me better understand what meaningful supports should look like, beyond just what's written on paper. It gave me clearer language and perspective going into meetings, without making me feel like I have to be adversarial to advocate well.

Overall, it's a helpful read for parents who want to understand inclusive practices and feel more confident partnering with their child's school."

Accommodations vs. Modifications:
What Every Parent Should Understand

This is one of the most misunderstood distinctions in special education. Knowing the difference means knowing exactly what to ask for at your next meeting.

Accommodation
Changes to how a child accesses learning
Grade-level expectations generally remain the same. Accommodations change the way a student accesses instruction, participates, completes work, or demonstrates knowledge in order to reduce barriers and support access.

Examples may include extended time, text-to-speech, preferential seating, visual supports, reduced distractions, or oral responses instead of written responses.
Modification
Changes to what a child is expected to learn
Modifications change, lower, or adjust learning expectations, instructional content, or academic standards. These supports are typically used when a student requires significant adjustments to the curriculum in order to access instruction meaningfully.

Examples may include shortened assignments, alternate grading methods, simplified reading material, or modified academic expectations. Modifications should be clearly discussed and documented through the IEP process because they may affect academic outcomes and long-term educational pathways.

Your child is more than a diagnosis.

Chapter 10 focuses on a strengths-based approach to understanding and supporting children who learn differently. Instead of asking "What is wrong with this child?" the focus shifts to "How does this child learn best?" and "What supports help this child succeed?"

Every child brings strengths, interests, perspectives, and potential into the classroom and home. The Inclusive Learning Handbook helps families recognize and build on those strengths, while also understanding the supports, accommodations, and strategies that help their child thrive.

Creativity and flexible problem-solving

Everything you need to know before you buy.

Absolutely. In fact, many families begin looking for answers long before a formal diagnosis or school identification happens. Often parents notice their child is struggling, learning differently, feeling overwhelmed, or needing support, but aren't yet sure why.

Not at all. The handbook covers a wide range of learning differences, disabilities, and support needs — from dyslexia, ADHD, and anxiety to autism, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and more complex medical and communication needs. Whether your child has an IEP, a 504 Plan, a medical diagnosis, or is simply struggling in ways you don't yet fully understand, this handbook was written to provide practical, accessible guidance you can actually use.

Most parents already spend hours searching online, but the information is often overwhelming, inconsistent, overly clinical, or difficult to apply to real life. The Inclusive Learning Handbook brings all of that information together in one clear, practical, easy-to-use reference — written by someone who spent more than 25 years working inside public education, supporting students, families, and school teams directly.

Digital access is available immediately after purchase. If you choose the Digital Edition or the Digital + Print Bundle, you will receive instant access to the full PDF handbook and can begin reading right away. Print editions ship via USPS Media Mail and typically arrive within 2 to 8 business days. Many families choose the bundle because it gives them the best of both: immediate digital access today and a durable spiral-bound handbook they can use for meetings, planning, and long-term reference once it arrives.

We want families to feel confident in their purchase. If you read the handbook and don't feel it provided meaningful value, you may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase. No questions asked. Simply contact support@collabedpress.com within 30 days and our team will take care of you.

If you still have questions or concerns, it is okay to trust those instincts and seek more understanding. Many families are told a child is "doing fine" academically while still noticing struggles with anxiety, attention, emotional regulation, social interactions, independence, communication, behavior, or day-to-day learning. The goal of this handbook is not to create conflict with schools — it's to help families feel informed, confident, and better equipped to support their child's growth and success.

Give your child the understanding, support, and practical strategies they deserve.
